Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and Monrovia's West Point district, the Ducor was completed in 1967. Destroyed and fallen into disrepair during the country's 14 year civil-war, the Ducor is now a reminder of the country's glamorous past.
Operated by the Intercontinental Hotels chain, the Ducor Hotel was the first international-class hotel constructed in Liberia, and was for many years one of the few five-star hotels in all of Africa.
The town lies on Cape Mount peninsula, and is separated from the mainland by Lake Piso. It serves as the capital of Grand Cape Mount County. Robertsport is located 50 km north of Monrovia, Liberia's capital city.

LIBERIA UNMASKED
The following images were taken while on assignment in Liberia 2012-2013, Inclusive of the capital city of Monrovia, the top expat destinations, and the bush counties, they incorporate the color, vibrancy, and decay of Liberia, a country still on the mend from the 14 year civil war (1989-2003) which killed 250,000 people. Founded by freed black slaves from the United States in 1847, Liberia is located on Africa's west coast, it is bordered by Sierra Leone to the west, Guinea to the north, and the Ivory Coast to the east.
